#YNaijaLit: Read two poems from Yakeeb’s poetry debut ‘Numb Tantrums’

Numb tantrums

Afs part of YNaija’s dedication to the arts and especially literature from Nigeria and the continent, we have opened our platform to novelists and poets and creative non-fiction writers, to share with us an integral part of their work and give us some much needed insight into why they have chosen to express themselves through this form.

This week we feature poet Yakeeb, who is debuting his very first chapbook ‘Numb Tantrums’ in partnership with the ArtsAndAfrica platform.  Yakeeb is part of a new wave of Nigerian poets who have grown their audiences via social media and are making the transition into traditional publishing by putting out bodies of work. Yakeeb does not conform to any of the expected precepts of ‘African poetry’ instead forging his own path through introspection of self and diagnosis of the world around him.

He shares two poems with us “Love8” and “Night Cat”. Enjoy.
