Hoodlums machete union chairman, others during prayer session

The Chairman of Osogbo Progressive Union, Alhaji Akeem Woleola, has said hoodlums numbering about 70, invaded the venue of special prayers organised by members of the union and inflicted machete cuts on him and others present.

He said the attack on him and others was a direct result of the leadership crisis rocking the OPU, calling on law enforcement agencies in the state to arrest the sponsor of the attack.

Woleola, who believes that a prominent indigene of the town was behind the attack, said, “We were at the venue of the special prayer for members of the union when the armed thugs invaded the place and inflicted machete cuts on my head and they also injured others.

“We know the person behind the attack and his motive. The thugs said that their sponsor paid them to attack us. So, we are calling on security agencies to investigate the attack.

“Anybody who is involved in this attack must be arrested and brought to book.

“The law of the land is supreme; it is not a respecter of anybody.”
