Leaked call: Police to demand Wike’s call log from telecoms

In furtherance of its investigation into the leaked audio of a call allegedly made by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, the police investigation panel will write telecommunication firms for the call data of the governor this week, Punch reports.

An call allegedly made by Wike ordering some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the Rivers rerun election had leaked last week.

A senior police officer said the panel will analyse the governor’s incoming and outgoing telephone calls, as well as SMS before, during and shortly after the rerun.

“Obtaining the CDR shouldn’t pose any difficulty to the investigators because the telecom firms have it on their exchange.

‘‘Forensic analysis of the audio tapes would be matched with the call logs, which will also assist in identifying the voice prints of the suspects,” a source said.

The source also said the governor’s voice will be matched with the leaked audio.

The Inspector-General had constituted a panel to investigate the audio and submit its report in 30 days.
