At least 1,300 refugees have been registered at the Adamawa Internally Displaced Persons Camp, the camp Commandant, Abdulmumini Jauro has said.
While speaking on Wednesday, at the Bajabure refugee camp in Girei Local Government Area, Jauro said; “We have so far registered over 1,300 Internally Displaced Persons who escaped from insurgent attacks in Madagali, Michika, Mubi North and South Local Government Areas of the state”.
The Commandant, who is also a member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society said that among the refugees were 360 women and 175 children; nine pregnant women; 162 students, from Federal Polytechnic and the Adamawa State University, Mubi.
Jauro confirmed that among the nine pregnant women, two had delivered and that both mothers and the babies were in good health.
He thanked various individuals and organisations for their massive assistance to the refugees.
Boko Haram militants have displaced more than 26,000 people from the northeastern Nigeria amid fierce fighting with the military.
