Court restrains Lizzy Anjorin from sharing photos of Priscilla Ojo’s son
A Lagos High Court has temporarily stopped actress Lizzy Anjorin from sharing or circulating photos of Rakeem, the son of Priscilla Ojo and her husband, Juma Jux, on social media. The order, issued on Wednesday, also prevents Anjorin from publishing or posting editorials about Priscilla and her husband.
The case, filed as LD/ADR/6646/2026, was brought by Priscilla, Juma and their son. Justice Yetunde Ademola Adesanya ordered Anjorin to stop publishing, uploading, broadcasting or circulating Rakeem’s pictures on her social media accounts. However, the order is temporary and will remain in place until the court hears arguments from both sides and makes a decision.
The legal action comes amid the ongoing social media dispute between Anjorin and Iyabo Ojo, Priscilla’s mother. Lizzy has made several claims about the family, including a recent allegation that Rakeem is not Priscilla’s biological child and was instead born to a nanny. She based the claim on a viral video showing the nanny and the child sharing a close bond.
Asake cancels Los Angeles concert days before scheduled show
Fans in Los Angeles will no longer see Asake perform at The Greek Theatre on September 6, 2026, after the Afrobeats star cancelled his scheduled concert. The reason for the cancellation has not been revealed, while organisers have assured ticket holders that their payments will be refunded automatically.
A notice sent to ticket buyers confirmed that the money would be returned to the card used for payment within five business days, with an additional two to three days allowed for the refund to appear in their accounts. No action is required from ticket holders to receive the refund.
The cancellation has sparked debate online, with some fans suggesting that poor ticket sales may have influenced the decision, while others claimed the show was close to selling out. Asake’s ‘In God We Trust’ tour began in July and was scheduled to visit 13 cities, including London, Paris, Atlanta, Toronto, Houston and Miami.
Ghana launches Marrify app to help people verify marital status
Ghanaians looking to get married can now use a new application to verify the marital status of prospective partners. The Ministry of Gender recently launched the Marrify app in partnership with MarryRight, an agency focused on family law and marriage. Gender Minister Agnes Naa Momo Lartey attended the launch.
Lartey said the platform would help couples make more informed decisions and encourage honesty and accountability in relationships. She urged prospective couples to verify important details about their partners, including their marital status and the legitimacy of their intended marriage arrangements, rather than relying solely on verbal claims.
The founder of Marrify and the Marriage Governance Conference, lawyer Dennis Adei Dwomoh, also raised concerns about marriage records in Ghana. He claimed that about 80% of married Ghanaians have not registered their marriages, highlighting what he described as a major challenge in the country’s marriage data management.
Hannatu Musawa urges Nigerians to vote for Soye at Miss World
Nigeria’s Minister of Art and Culture, Hannatu Musawa, has called on Nigerians to support Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye, as she advances in the 73rd Miss World competition. Soye, who is representing Nigeria at the pageant in Vietnam, recently emerged as Africa’s Top Model and secured a place among the Top 40 contestants.
With the grand finale scheduled for September 5, Musawa praised Soye for proudly representing Nigeria on the international stage. She said the model had not only performed well in the competition but also used the platform to showcase the country and discuss important issues affecting young people.
Musawa urged Nigerians to vote for Soye and encourage others to do the same, stressing that every vote could make a difference. Soye was crowned Miss World Nigeria on June 5 after defeating 36 contestants. Nigeria’s only Miss World winner remains Agbani Darego, who made history by winning the title in 2001.
Lil Durk will not testify in ongoing murder-for-hire trial
Lil Durk will not take the witness stand in his ongoing murder-for-hire trial. According to journalist Michael Blackshire, the rapper’s defence team rested its case on Thursday, September 3, without Durk or his two co-defendants, Deandre Wilson, also known as OTF Dede, and David Lindsey, known as Browneyez, testifying.
Durk is accused of arranging a 2022 attack on rapper Quando Rondo as revenge for the 2020 killing of King Von. Rondo survived the attack, but his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was killed. During the defence case, several witnesses testified on Durk’s behalf, while his legal team maintained that he had no involvement and claimed alleged co-conspirator Kavon Grant, known as OTF Vonnie, was the mastermind.
Durk has pleaded not guilty to the charges and could face life in prison if convicted, and the court is expected to hear closing arguments on Tuesday, September 8, as the trial moves towards its conclusion.
