Jolitown is an exciting new Metro-Pidgin Lifestyle, Music and Movie community that debuts on Nigerian television screens this October. It launches on the digital cable platform, Star Times on RealStar Channel 13. First in line on the syndication block it comes 6 days a week on the RealStar Channel on Startimes from the first week of October. The community is also expected to debut on web platforms, satellite and FTA platforms later in October.
According to President and creative director Yinka Obebe, “Our target is the young, upwardly mobile and culture-aware Nigerian who is proud of his heritage, language and originality. Our vision is to meet the needs of the Nigerian entertainment audience to experience authentic, original and indigenous television entertainment and be proud of their language and culture even in our fast evolving world.”
Jolitown’s programs are presented in the popular pidgin English and intends to effectively explore new grounds in order to present new entertainment value that is unique, compelling yet generally relatable to mass audiences. Jolitown is set to effectively deliver this new television experience through an exciting line-up of distinctively outstanding shows and music belts. Some of the shows and music belts to look out for are ‘Random10’, ‘Who Dem’, ‘Area Tori’ and many more.
It is the Nigerian’s familiarity that Jolitown intends to leverage on with its language, content, presentation and aspirations. “Jolitown feels, acts and behaves like its target audience, says its founder, it is time to change the face of entertainment and start listening to the people, Jolitown feels, acts and behaves like its target audience. The station also promises a lot of exciting and interactive packages for its audience on the Startimes and other platforms. The station currently shows programmes six days a week on the Real Star Channel 13 on Startimes.
