Anthony Onuchukwu: The pound of flesh (30 Days, 30 Voices)

As Cindy walked out of his house on Monday morning, she was glowing, she was all smiles. She definitely got some, her friends asked her to share the joy, and she said: “Trust me he won’t be cheating on me anytime soon”

Cindy was the prettiest girl on the block; she tossed and turned guys whichever way she pleased. Until Roy came along, he was new and didn’t know or care about anybody. His arrogance was the sexiest thing Cindy had ever seen. She wanted him; he didn’t care. She worked her way in. Roy made rules on how they were to date. She wasn’t to be seen with other guys, she had to unfollow a couple guys on twitter, he would call her up sometimes and be like “your twitter avatar is too cute, change it”.

Roy would flirt with girls, and hang out with girls, and Cindy had the mentality that he was going to come back to her when he was done. He told her he wasn’t having sex; he was just enjoying their company. His favorite line was “would you want me if no one wanted me?” and she would keep quiet. She shut everyone out and tagged herself “his ride or die chick”

Cindy was required to call him every time before she visited. On this hot Saturday afternoon, she just strolled in, the door was slightly open. She walked in and found his shirt was on the floor. She figured he came home drunk; the music from his room was so loud it was deafening. She walked to his room opened the door and Roy was getting the ride of his life. He was too pre-occupied to notice Cindy’s presence. Roy turned around saw Cindy and he smiled. Her heart sunk. She stormed out of the house and buried herself in tears.

Sunday evening, Roy called her. She took the cal. “Hey baby, come over” he said and he hung up. Her heart was bleeding but she loved him. She went over, he told her “The girl you saw yesterday followed me from the club. I was drunk and she was available. I’m sorry you had to see that”. She was disgusted. She couldn’t believe her ears. He kissed her and apologized.

As Cindy walked out of his house on Monday morning, she was glowing, she was all smiles. She definitely got some, her friends asked her to share the joy, and she said: “Trust me he won’t be cheating on me anytime soon”

Roy woke up, very dizzy. He wasn’t sure what he was feeling, the noise from the siren was driving him nuts. He couldn’t remember what happened. He had been drugged and he was hurting. He thought to himself “it must have been a crazy night”. But the pain in his groin was unbearable. There were too many people in his room and then he passed out again.  He woke up again with his head spinning. This feeling wouldn’t just go away. He was still hurting. He reached for his groin and it was gone. Immediately, the dizziness disappeared. What could have happened? Then things became clearer after he received a text from Cindy. “I’ll be your ride or die chick, thru the good and bad times”, she wrote.

Cindy opened the refrigerator smiled at Roy’s dismembered organ in a Ziploc bag. She filled her cup with ice and smiled again. Indeed, she got her pound of flesh.
