Nigerians in the UK to undergo before COVID-19 test for evacuation

The Nigeria High Commission in the United Kingdom has said any Nigerian willing to be evacuated to Nigeria due to the Coronavirus pandemic will be made to undergo a compulsory Coronavirus test in the UK before they can board the flight back to Nigeria.

According to a memo sent to Nigerians, the High Commission said the Nigerian citizens can get their test done via public medical facilities or through private medical outfits that have the test kits. The Commission in the memo suggested two private medical outfits Nigerians can contact for a private COVID-19 test. The private test kit is said to cost £350 (N140, 000).

Arraignment of Naira Marley, Gbadamosi delayed due to Coronavirus

The Lagos State Police command has said that no date has been fixed yet for the arraignment of singer Naira Marley and former governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi and his wife.

Naira Marley and the Gbadamosi reported themselves to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID on Monday after they were invited for their alleged violation of the Infectious Disease Regulation of Lagos state when they attended the birthday party organised by actress Funke Akindele and her hubby, JJCSkillz over the weekend.

NJC extends suspension of a court sittings till further notice in view of Coronavirus lockdown

The National Judicial Council has extended the suspension of court sittings across the country till further notice, in view of the Coronavirus lockdown order. The extension was disclosed in a circular to all heads of courts signed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Tuesday, April 7.

Katsina records first COVID-19 death

The Katsina State Government has announced the death of the state’s first coronavirus case. The governor, Aminu Masari, who announced this to newsmen, said the deceased, Dr. Aminu Yakubu, a Daura based private medical practitioner, recently returned from Lagos to the state and died three days after. His blood sample was taken to the NCDC office in Abuja for examination and it was confirmed he was positive for Coronavirus.

FCT to discharge seven COVID-19 patients

The Federal Capital Territory Abuja says it is set to discharge seven COVID-19 patients after their confirmatory tests came back negative. This was announced by the FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello. “Since the outbreak of the first COVID-19 case in the FCT, I have been kept abreast daily on the condition of the patients. I am delighted to announce that the first set of patients, totalling 7, are ready to be discharged after their final tests results returned negative” he said.
