Ayra Starr, Darkoo, and Odeal Emerge as Winners at the 2025 MOBO Awards

Nigerian artists have made history at the MOBO 2025 Awards, with Ayra Starr, Darkoo, and Odeal each taking home two awards for their remarkable contributions to the Nigerian and global music scene.

The 27th edition of the MOBO Awards took place at Utilita Arena in Newcastle, UK, on February 18, hosted by Eddie Kadi and Indiyah Polack. The event featured performances from Odeal, Krept & Konan, Spice, Darkoo, Nova Twins, Bashy, and others.

Ayra Starr received two awards: “Best International Act,” where she competed against nominees such as Asake, Tems, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Tyla, GloRilla, Latto, and Nicki Minaj. She also won the “Best African Music Act” award, surpassing Tems and Tyla, and making history as the first female to win this category in 16 years.

Darkoo’s accolades included “Best Female Act” and “Song of the Year” for “Favourite Girl” featuring Dess Dior.

Odeal joined the victory celebration by winning “Best Newcomer” and “Best RnB/Soul Act.”
