The Argus-Press first reported that a pistol tucked into the waistband of a 75-year-old Owosso man discharged, causing a bullet to be fired into his genitals.

Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office Det. Lt. David Kirk told Raw Story that the incident occurred while the man was target practicing on Saturday. The man’s name was not being released because no charges were filed.

Kirk described the man as being “awake and alert” before being transported by ambulance to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

“It’s just an unfortunate mishap,” Kirk said.
