#BlackSunday: 5 killed, 52 injured in auto crash after birthday celebration in Katsina

Five persons died while 52 others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred on Sunday morning at Gora village in Malumfashi Local Government of Katsina State.

Confirming the news to journalists, the Federal Road Safety Corps Commander (FRSC) in Malunfashi, Muhammad Tijjani, said the incident occurred at about 10am involving a truck conveying over 100 people.

According to him, the truck was coming back from Gombe State where the people attended the annual Maulud Celebrations commemorating the birth day of popular Islamic Scholar, late Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass.

Nyass was a Senegalese and grand leader of Tijjaniyya Tariqa Sufi adherents and Vicegerents of popular late Sheikh Ahmad Tijjany, the founder of the Islamic sect.

The victims were going to their home town, Bakori, headquarters of Bakori Local Government in Katsina State.

The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
