BLOG: Christian rapper Bizzle goes after Jay-Z and Kanye West

If you’re an ex-pimp and turn yourself into a Christian rapper, this apparently gives you the moral authority to judge and confront other people.  That’s what the Rapper Bizzle is communicating to The Christian Post.  The rapper, who was once a pimp in real life, has turned his life over to God and is now calling out artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West for glorifying sin.

Mark “Bizzle” Felder said this to the Christian Post:

“My financial situation got so bad. I was sleeping on a friend’s floor and my car was a closet for my clothes,” he said. “A woman who was a prostitute liked my music. I had friends that were getting paid in that way, (so) I fell into this situation where I was pretty much a pimp and she was my prostitute.”

Bizzle says that he changed his life after going to pick up the prostitute’s brother at a local church.

“(Her brother) was a drummer in a church, that was her family’s church. The problem was that I didn’t feel as guilty as I should have,” Bizzle said. “I knew it was wrong but because of the money that was coming in, I wasn’t going to tell her what the Lord was telling me. Eventually I came to Christ after realizing how far I had gone from him. That scared me.”

Bizzle has done it all, opening for the biggest names in hip-hop, including Lil Wayne, Juelz Santana and Lil Boosie.  But says that as he got closer to God, he wanted to change his ways.

In his song, “You Got Some Explaining to Do,” Bizzle calls out Jay-Z for writing lyrical content that he says is a direct assault on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“Not all secular artists glorify sin. I can’t condemn all secular music,” Bizzle told CP. “I (ask) people are (artists) fully against your beliefs or are they promoting sin? If they are, you’ve got to ask yourself why you are listening.”

Will the mainstream public ever embrace Christian rap?  Maybe some people have.  Bizzle has a strong following on Twitter, and anything is better than some of the garbage that gets spit out of artists these days.  But do hip hop and religion actually mix?  It’s hard to tell.  But maybe Bizzle’s onto something.
