The strike called by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been called off this morning. This follows a meeting by its National Executive Council at the University of Abuja yesterday.
YNaija broke the news exclusively on Twitter this morning after speaking to the chairman of the University of Lagos chapter of the union. “Yes, the strike has been suspended,” said Dr. Karo Ogbinaka. “More details will be shared with the public shortly.”
The official Twitter handle for the union confirmed the information shortly after. “We want to thank you all for the understanding thus far. All lecturers are to resume immediately,” @ASUU_Nigeria Tweeted. “ASUU will not relent on her efforts to rescue the educational system by pressing home the demands necessary at all times.”
