RegCharles Foundation, a not for profit organisation, focused on entrepreneurship education and development of marginalised women and youth in Nigerian communities, is calling for donations towards its poverty alleviation project for the empowerment of rural women based in Badagary,  in Lagos. The foundation implores you to join its cause. Empower a woman! Create change!

According to the Founder, Mr. Peter Mbama “Feedback from our research in Badagry highlights the utmost need to equip the women with vocational skills, entrepreneurial trainings, leadership skills and provision of micro credits to empower these women. We intend to work with the women for a period of 18 months to ensure the businesses run and yield profits.”

The project is aimed to engage 100 Bottom of the Pyramid (B.o.P) women for a 5-days training programme on vocational, entrepreneurship and leadership skills. At completion of the training, women will be grouped into industry clusters for the micro-credits. This event is scheduled to hold from 24th to 28th of March, 2014 at the Badagry Local Government Secretariat.

To successfully implement this project, Regcharles Foundation is relying on philanthropic organizations, social impact investors, corporations and well-meaning individuals to achieve our vision. Specifically we require the sum of $31,250 (5 Million Naira) to provide seed funds for the women. Each woman need about $312.5 (N50, 000) as seed fund to start a small business.

At the end of the project, we have projected that it would reduce the unemployment rate in the community. Also, the women will be economically self-reliant and financially literate, increased their personal development skills, and become stronger women leaders. Our technical partners for this project are: Lagos State Ministry for Rural Development and Lagos State Ministry for Women and Poverty Alleviation.

Donors will be kept up to date on the development of the programme. Individuals who donate $312.5 and above would have a One day tour experience to Badagry with visits to The Badagry Museum, First Storey Building, Badagry Beach and the Slave route). You will also have the opportunity to have the Miss Tourism 2013 as your Tour Guide.
