‘I am not the problem of Nigerian sports’ – Dalung

The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung on Tuesday said he is not the problem of sports in Nigeria.

He said this while speaking to State House Correspondents after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on the performance of Nigeria at the just concluded Rio Olympics.

Dalung said this while reacting to calls for his sack.

“I am not the problem of Nigerian sports. Abysmal performance has been happening before me,” he said.

He said Nigeria’s poor performance was due to the late release of funds.

The minister also said he was yet to be officially informed of the appointment of a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Dalung also said he was against the decision of the NFF to withdraw the car it gave Siasia while the coach was serving Nigeria at the Olympics.

The minister also said it has been ascertained that there was no match-fixing strings attached to the $390,000 donation by a Japanese surgeon.
