Dying to have some coffee? – Starbucks to open in funeral home (with free Wi-Fi)

by Adeniyi Abdul
Residents of South Carolina who find it hard staying awake through funeral services need not fret anymore as the good folks over at Starbucks are set to open a branch in a funeral home. No Starbucks sign will be displayed in the funeral home and Starbucks employees won’t actually be working there but coffee shop workers at the will be Starbucks-trained. The Robinson Funeral Home will offer the coffee chain’s official menu, in addition to free Wi-Fi.

Members of the public who have no funerals to attend in the home are also welcome, as the shop has an opening through a patio entrance, proving that coffee is not a luxury reserved for the grieving.

The General Manager of the funeral home however stressed that it would not be intrusive and customers could easily ignore it. “You walk in the front, and it’s off to the side” said Chris Robinson. “It’s not like it’s right up front.”

“It should help families escape from the stress a little bit, having a private area to get their minds off of what’s going on” he said.
