Ebonyi governor sacks local council chairmen, reshuffles cabinet

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has sacked the 13 Local Government Council Caretaker Chairpersons, and reshuffled his cabinet, Premium Times reports.

This is contained in a statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Emmanuel Onwe.

“The Caretaker Chairmen are directed to hand over to Heads of Personnel Management (HPMs) in their respective local government before the close of business on Thursday 8th September 2013,” the statement said.

The governor wished the relieved chairpersons well in their future endeavours as he thanked them for their services.

According to the statement, Governor Umahi also effected a minor reshuffle of his cabinet.

Francis Orji was transferred from the Ministry of Water Resources to Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Elizabeth Nwogbaga, who was in charge of Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, was moved to Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Euphemia Nwali will leave the ministry of Culture and Tourism to take charge of the Water Resources Ministry.

Donatus Njoku of  the Ministry of Solid Minerals and his Economic Empowerment and Job Creation counterpart, Sabinus Nwankwegu will now exchange positions.

The statement further said that all hand over processes must be concluded by 12noon on Wednesday.
