The FBI reportedly allowed a child porn website to operate for two weeks after the agency busted its management because it wanted to get a bead on some 5,000 customers of the site.
Federal investigators said they kept the Internet porn service operating in November to identify more than 5,000 customers, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Tuesday, citing court records.
The sicko site, which showed images of children being raped and otherwise abused, was based in Nebraska. The Washington paper found out about it when a Seattle-based FBI agent described the unorthodox scheme in court.
The agent argued the FBI needed to keep the site running to hunt down its customers. But the strategy allowed the pedophiles to continue sharing and looking at images of children.
“Jesus I would enjoy hurting that child,” one customer wrote in a chat thread on the site.
