Finally, Okorocha wins!

The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Rochas Owelle Okorocha has officially been announced by INEC as the winner of the 2011 Governorship Elections in Imo State. Okorocha polled 336,859 votes, while the incumbent governor of Imo state and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost the race, scoring Mr. Ikedi Ohakim 290,496 votes.

Senator Ifeayin Ararume who contested under the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Scored 107,068 votes.

The election in Oguta area of the state was however cancelled. The election first held in April but was adjudged inconclusive by the electoral officers, with a re-run was fixed for Friday 6 May 2011.

The announcement was made today after the collation of results from the supplementary elections held yesterday.

With the above result, Rochas has hereby declared as Governor-elect. We await his  swearing in ceremony on 29th May, 2011 as the Executive Governor of Imo State.
