Former head coach of the Super Falcons, Ntiero Effiom, is dead.
Cross River State Sports Commissioner, Patrick Ugbe, who confirmed his death said that the ex-coach died at his hometown of Akpabuyo near Calabar in the early hours of Wednesday.
“I was informed that he took ill a day after the Nigeria match against Congo in Calabar and was taken to hospital, where he died,” Ugbe said.
Effiom was the coach of the Super Falcons from 2004-2007, when he led the team to FIFA Women’s World Cup. He was also the coach of Cross River based Pelican Stars, before being appointed coach of the Super Falcons.
