Tribute: 22year old Mustapha Opobiyi is the first casualty of #FuelSubsidyRemoval

The first victim to lose his life as a direct result of the Federal Government’s removal of the subsidy on fuel has been identified as 22 year old Mustapha Muyideen Mofoluwasho Opobiyi.

He was killed at Ilorin, capital of Kwara State during one of the #OccupyNigeria protests currently sweeping the nation.

Reports from the protest say he was shot by the Nigerian Police as they were trying to disperse the protesters but the police denied the allegations, their reports insists he was stabbed to death by taxi/okada drivers who believed he was opposing their cause.

According to a friend of the deceased, before his death, he lived at number 61, Oke-odo compound, Alimi road, Ode-alahusa, Ilorin. He attended Army Day Secondary school, Maitama Abuja and sat for the May/June WASSCE in 2011.

He graduated from the Da’arul Salam Computer Training Institute of Information and technology 24, December, where he studied Data Processing and Desktop publishing and was awaiting admission into an institution of higher learning.

The source concluded that he was an innocent bystander who went to the Post-office to buy a phone.
