“I didn’t become Benue governor to preside over dead bodies” – Ortom

After series of attacks on Benue state communities by Fulani herdsmen, Governor Samuel Ortom has warned that his ‘people are being pushed too far’.

Ortom says the ceaseless attacks have led to the displacement of many and death of the ‘old and young’.

Speaking with journalists on Monday, he said, “I didn’t become Governor to preside over dead bodies. No day passes without the blood of the innocent spilled by rampaging gunmen! Our people are being pushed too far by herdsmen.”

“The old and the young have been slaughtered, children separated from their parents and many people chased out of their homes to sleep in the bush without food to eat.”

“This is genocide and I call on all Nigerians to condemn the invasion, killings, destruction and occupation of Benue communities by herdsmen.”

  1. we should be watchful of our actions, our speeches, for Nigeria has taken enough. What are we thinking of Nigeria to be? A rubbles! Lets reflect back to 80s of oil boom, the economicians of that era are to be held responsible for thier improper managing of our economy. Today it has brought us into poverty, fraustrations, enemity. Iam pleading to all Nigerians, lets burry the hatchets and forgive one another,so we can build a better Nigeria of our dreams… There is still plenty future ahead. God bless Nigerians.
