Gideon Okeke, star of popular Mnet soap, Tinsel, has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the show’s writers on the direction the plot has taken lately. You can read our last review of Tinsel here.
Taking to his Twitter handle, @OgidiGada, the former Big Brother Nigeria housemate wrote: “TINSEL writers… our audiences are smarter than you think they are…WAKE UP”
Shortly after his announcement, Okeke received a slew of reactions that led to him becoming a trending topic in Lagos, home to a lot of Tinsel fans.
Here are some comments:
@FRANCESOLY: “Please tell them, the whole thing is becoming boring”.
@ijay3000: “True talk.”
@MsYemmy: “Yay!!! thanks for the brutal honesty, we the viewers are getting tired, I don’t get the story anymore.”
A few others were not so keen on his post:
@bluesandhills: “You need deliverance! One, you just sounded dumb, since those who watch you are SMARTER! wake up young boy!”
@Kendesigners: “Our audiences*? Now, it’s obvious the writers are smarter than you.”

I think the guy is completely right and did the writers and the show a lot of good by bringing this to the spotlight. Interestingly, I posted a review of the Laide/Fred/Sheila plot after yesterday's episode; it's been so ridiculous and implausible a la Nollywood. Such critical reviews, whether from Gideon or viewers, will do the show we love a lot of good!
Gideon accusing Tinsel writers of mediocrity is like Jonathan accusing Obama of bad governance. Idiat!
