The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident saying that he could not confirm the amount that was carted away.

“It is true that some people burgled into the IRS office and carted away some amount of money,” he said.

“We have already swung into action. We have with us the guards who were supposed to be on duty that night. We are questioning and investigating them.”

“We cannot confirm the amount of cash stolen from the IRS office but by the time the complainant finish writing his statement, we’ll be able to ascertain the exact amount and deduce some other helpful information.” he continued.

He also insinuated it could have been an inside job, pointing out that the guards were neither attacked or restrained in any manner by the robbers.

“It’s interesting that the office was burgled and the guards on duty were neither attacked nor tied down by the burglars.” he said. “We’ll get to the root of the incident and all the culprits will be brought to book.”

Despite the fact he said he did not reveal the amount taken from the vault, a source revealed to The Punch that the robbers made away with N20 million.
