Charles Nwosu, a former director at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was on Sunday shot dead by persons believed to be assassins, Imo police spokesperson, Vitalis Olugu, has confirmed.
Nwosu was killed along New Market Layout in Owerri, the Imo state Capital.
According to reports, the suspected assassins drove a Black Toyota jeep. They attacked Nwosu, who was driving in his car Peugeot 407 with his wife along New Market Layout on Aba road, around 10:30am.
The murderers abducted Nwosu’s wife who was later left in a bush in the outskirt of the town.
Olugu said the state Commissioner of Police, Adisa Bolanta, has set up all machineries to ensure that the killers of the former CBN director are brought to book.
