Yesterday, a helicopter crashed into the Lagos Lagoon. At the time, it felt like just another story. Nigeria throws a lot at you and you become desensitized to these things.
“Hey, at least it’s not me”
Peter Bello is 26-year-old pilot and media photographer. He was the copilot on that Bristow helicopter that crashed yesterday. The authorities haven’t confirmed his death and neither have they found his body. Peter was a young and brilliant photographer. Fun, energetic, and full of life with no inkling of death before him.
All efforts to get updates from the airline and emergency authorities have been futile. They are all gathering information and and urged us to be patient. It’s easy for them to say, it’s not them. You can’t fault them either, this is standard procedure and they’re all doing their jobs.
A young man barely at the peak of his powers, Peter Bello had spent the past weekend preparing for his sister’s upcoming wedding. He’d often say, “my home is in the skies, I fear nothing when flying”. Peter Bello more than just another nugget in a story.
We truly hope Peter is ok and ask that we all #PrayForPeterBello till he’s found alive.
