When officials at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., discovered that one of the yearbook staffers had changed a student’s name to “Masturbate,” they got a little touchy.

Now the student accused of causing the fap, er, flap, is facing criminal charges.

Kaitlyn Booth, 17, was arrested May 14 on suspicion of first-degree property damage, a felony, and harassment after allegedly changed the last name of fellow student Raigan Mastain to “masturbate” in the Hickman Kresset, the school’s yearbook, the Associated Press reported.

No charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon, but Assistant Boone County prosecutor Spencer Bartlett said the case remains under review.

Booth’s prank affected some 720 yearbooks and reprinting them would have cost $41,000. Instead, the yearbook staff fixed Mastain’s name for the online version, and spent 12 hours placing stickers over Mastain’s name, Gawker reported.

Mastain said she wasn’t happy about the prank, but “wasn’t devastated” either.

“I was kind of annoyed. It was stupid, but I wasn’t that upset,” she told the Columbia Daily Tribune, adding that she was surprised Booth was arrested.

“I understand the legality … but I was definitely pretty shocked,” she told the paper. “When you’re in high school, you do stuff that is not necessarily the smartest, and this was an example of that.”
