HiTV celebrates Nigeria at 50

In commemoration of 50 years of the extraordinary accomplishments of Nigeria and it’s people, HiTV & OHTV have prepared a never-before-seen line up for viewers on October 1st. They describe it as a “celebration that [will] entertain, educate and interact” with Nigerians across the globe. It is estimated that the broadcast will reach up to 30 million homes at the same time, an unprecedented feat in the history of Nigerian television.

To kick off the experience, the TV stations will present a worldwide airing of the President’s speech as well as the official celebrations in the country’s capital. After this, a series of exciting documentaries and programs depicting Nigeria’s rich history will be broadcast for the rest of the day. Later in the day, a six-hour show, which will celebrate Nigeria’s business & economic development, media & entertainment, tourism & culture and political history will be broadcast live from studios in both Lagos and London.

Prof. Wole Soyinka, Wale Tinubu, Chris Ubosi, Emeka Mba, and Rotimi Pedro and other great Nigerians will participate as panelists in both studios. Add to that an attractive line-up that includes music, stand up comedy and online reviews among others, and it’s clear that this show is sure to pack a punch. Happy birthday Nigeria!
