President Goodluck Jonathan called on Nigerians to be patient with his administration promising to deliver on his promises before the end of his tenure.

He said this, Thursday, in Onitsha, Anambra State, during the inauguration of the N4.6bn Onitsha River Port Complex.

During his visit, the president also inaugurated oil drilling activities at Orient Oil Resource Centre, near Aguleri; the SABMiller Brewery in Onitsha; and Orange Drugs Factory.

The Minister of Transportation, Idris Umar, said the river port will stimulate economic activities and create employment.

According to ChannelsTV reports, he showed his appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi for the support given towards the successful completion of the project.

He revealed that three more inland waterway projects in Baro, Niger; Oguta, Imo, and Yamata, Kogi will soon be completed and inaugurated.

Governor Obi said the river port will do a lot in reducing pressure on the roads and also serve to reduce unemployment.

Before concluding his visit the president unveiled the statue of the late Ikemba of Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and renamed the road from the Niger Bridgehead to Upper Iweka Road after the former warlord.
