The Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, have returned to the country following their second round elimination by France in the 24th FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja in the early hours of today.

They were lead by the head coach, Stephen Keshi, on arrival.

In an interview with journalists at the airport, Stephen Keshi said the team would have loved to progress beyond the second round of the tournament but expressed gratitude to God for the outing in Brazil.

There have been media reports of the coach’s resignation immediately after the World Cup but Stephen Keshi said he had not resigned.
