Following Sunday’s fire outbreak that gutted the Ultima Studios, venue of two MTN-sponsored TV shows – MTNProject Fame West Africa and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? – the telecommunication company has announced that the shows would continue.
According to the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Kola Oyeyemi, although the fire incident will affect the continuity of the two programmes in the short term, arrangements are being made to continue the shows with the same quality of content and production.
“We thank God that no life was lost and there was no casualty whatsoever. We were at the facility while the fire was raging and we were quite impressed with Ultima’s commitment and immediate steps taken to ensure the shows go on despite their losses,” Mr. Oyeyemi said.
According to him, a new location has been identified for the Project Fame Academy, and the students will be relocated there within the next two weeks. A temporary studio has also been secured and work will commence immediately so that the crowd-pulling show can resume.
Corroborating this, the Managing Director of Ultima Studios Limited, Femi Ayeni, said alternative arrangements are in place, confirming that the fire outbreak would not distract the progress of the shows.
His words: “Although the incident is catastrophic and the loss shattering, we are grateful to God that no life was lost. The contestants are safe and we are confident that the show will go on, and in no time we will be back on air on the various TV stations. So keep watching.”
