Belfast, Northern Ireland went all glitz and glam last night playing host to the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards. 19-year-old Selena Gomez, was the host of the night. She arrived early on the red carpet amid claims that her 17-year-old boyfriend, Justine Beiber, had fathered a child with a female fan.
Gomez who ended up playing dress up throughout the event, changing into nine outfits also had time for a bit of controversy- making an odd appearance in a mock Lady Gaga gear.
The biggest winner of the night was Lady Gaga herself, who didn’t disappoint with her choice of clothing. She won Best Song and Best Video for her hit single Born This Way, Best Female and Biggest Fans – which is a new category that honors artistes with the most committed fans.
Teenage sweet heart, Bieber, put the paternity scandal behind him and enjoyed the attention after winning two awards for Best Male and Best Pop. While Teenage Dream queen, Katy Perry was awarded for Best Live Act. She also presented an award to the Legendary Rock Band, Queens for Global Icon Awards.
There was also a video tribute to the late British singer, Amy Winehouse, presented by Jessie J.
The presenters of the night included Hyden Panettiere, Heroes star, who had an OMG! moment when a naked man came up to her on stage. Other presenters were MTV reality stars Snooki and Jwoww, Super Models Bar Refaeli and Irina Shayk.
The show was closed by Queens, who had stage support from Adam Lambert.
