John Terver, 21, an automobile panel beater in Benue state has been charged to court for culpable homicide after it emerged that he poisoned his three-year-old son’s food.
A Makurdi Magistrate’s Court heard how one Samuel Tihi had on May 30, 2013 reported to the police in Zaki Biam that the accused allegedly gave his son, Aondoyima Tervera, poisonous substance suspected to be a local insecticide known as wiper which led to his death
Terver has now been arrested and remanded in Makurdi. According to reports, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction.

However, the prosecutor informed the court that investigation into the matter was in progress and asked for another date for hearing.
In her ruling, the trial magistrate, Mrs. Lillian Tsumba, ordered that the accused be remanded in the Makurdi Federal Prison and adjourned the case to July 23, 2013.
