‘Ali Modu Sheriff wants to set Nigeria, PDP on fire’ – Fani-Kayode

The controversy emanating from the appointment of former Borno state governor, Ali Modu Sheriff as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has taken a new dimension.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has blatantly fired back at the subtle threats made by Ali Modu Sheriff on Monday, to anyone who linking him to the Boko Haram sect.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode, at the opening session of PDP Former Ministers’ Forum, stated that it’s unpleasant that Ali Modu Sheriff whose appointment was supposed to move the party forward, is issuing threats to its members.

The former minister made it pristine clear that he would not stand for intimidation of any sort while accusing the new party chairman of plotting to set the country ablaze.

“This, I think is unacceptable and nobody is intimidated. The fact of the matter is that he wants to set Nigeria on fire, he also wants to set PDP on fire and that fire is going to consume him and him alone.”

Being a lawyer himself, Fani-Kayode declared that he was prepared to face anyone in court in the course of this raging battle.

“I am not like anybody he has met before in his life. He will meet a resistance he never expected.”

In a similar vein, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) on Monday, held that Ali Modu Sheriff is not ‘a suitable candidate’ to be the national chairman of the party.

The selection of Ali Modu Sheriff as the party’s chairman has been met with stiff opposition and criticism from the chieftains of the party.

Acting Chairman of the party’s BoT, Senator Walid Jubril, while speaking to journalists, stated that the board would meet to come up with a ‘viable solution’ to the leadership crisis.

“The Board of Trustees is still strongly of the view that Ali Modu is not a suitable candidate to be national chairman of our beloved party. We have resolved to propose some viable solutions to this matter at a very important meeting later tonight,” Senator Walid Jibril stated.
