Nigeria gets 7th gold medal at Rio paralympics

Nigeria has gotten its 7th gold medal at the ongoing 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, through Flora Ugwunwa at the women’s javelin – F54 event, on Tuesday.

With a total throw of 20.25 metres after six attempts, Ugwunwa won Nigeria’s 7th gold medal at the games.

Ugwunwa also set a new world record with Tunisia’s Hania Aidi, coming behind to win the silver medal.

On the same day, Opeyemi Jegede only managed fifth position at the power-lifting men’s -88kg while Abdulazeez Ibrahim placed sixth in power-lifting men’s -97 kg.
