The film industry has proven that these filmmakers continuously push themselves to improve their creativity with each production released into the media for public consumption.

This month of October, we bring movies and series that will be released to your attention, knowing that each has the power to leave you shell-shocked and in awe of the Nollywood film industry.

  •  Life and Dirt (October 3)

Directed by James Abinibi and written by  Bovi, the film sees two men desperate for riches orchestrate a get-rich-quick scheme, which soon proves that Rome truly was not built in a day. The film stars Chidi Mokeme, Bovi Ugboma, Shaffy Bello, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Uzor Arukwe, and Shola Fapson. The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.

    • A Night in 2005 (October 11)
    Ted Abudu Revealed New Film “A Night in 2005” Set for Release in Cinemas on October 11

    Ted Abudu has announced that his debut feature film, “A Night in 2005,” will be released in Nigerian cinemas nationwide on October 11. The film will star several A-list Nollywood actors, namely Ini-Dima Okojie, Demi Banwo, Efa Iwara, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Susan Pwajok, Teniola Aladese, Shamz Garuba, and Bimbo Akintola. The plot of “A Night in 2005” is set on a particular night in 2005 when everything changed in the characters’ lives. The film focuses heavily on love, family, friendship, and loyalty.

    • Inside Life (October 18)

    The TV series will depict the lives of Nigerians living in an unpredictable country, terrified by the policies meted out by the government and how the people adjust to it with a low chance of survival. The plot of the TV series tells of a desperate man, a devoted sister, and an ambitious woman, all facing their hardships in Lagos State, Nigeria. Directed by Clarence Peters, the series stars Jide Kosoko, Gabriel Afolayan, Jiyan Babaoja, Zack Orji, Meg Otanwa, and Scarlett Gomez. It will be released on Netflix on October 18.

    • Wives on Strike (October 18)
    Omoni Oboli Makes A Comeback to the Big Screen in Trailer for New Film “The Uprising: Wives on Strike”

    “Wives on Strike: The Uprising” is co-produced by Tomi Adeoye. It will follow the lives of some market women who stand up against domestic violence after learning that one of their own was beaten to death by her husband. The film will star several A-list actresses, namely Uche Jombo, Omoni Oboli, Chioma Akpotha, Tomiwa Tegbe, KieKie, Hilda Dokubo, Ufoma McDermott, Segun Arinze, Kalu Ikeagwu, Okey Bakassi, Emeka Okoye, Julius Agwu, and more. The film is set to drop in cinemas across Nigeria on October 18.

    Meet The Cast of Jerry Ossai’s New Film “3 Working Days,” Coming Out October 18

    “3 Working Days” is directed by Jerry Ossai and celebrates fathers and the love a father develops for his children, Jerry Ossai dives into this film with a story about a father who makes the ultimate sacrifice for his son. It stars Deyemi Okanlawon, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Osifo, Romeo WJ, Tobi Makinde, Mike Afolarin, Femi Adebayo, Victor Osuagwu, Bolaji Ogunmola, Detola Jones, Seun Kentebe, Odunaro Emmanuel, Mike Ezeruonye, and Gbugbemi Ejeye.

    • My Fairytale Wedding (October 20)
    MultiChoice’s First Film in Planned Trilogy “My Fairytale Wedding” Set for Release on Africa Magic

    Directed by Dimeji Ajibola and produced by Chichi Nworah, “My Fairytale Wedding” will tell the story of a 29-year-old spinster desperate for love and a family of her own making. She soon turns to kayanmata (a love charm) sold to her by a strange seller.  The limited series will feature multiple A-list actors such as Ini Edo, Ramsey Nouah, Carolyna Hutchings, Tina Mba, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Lilian Esoro, Daniel Etim Effiong, Kanayo O Kanayo, and is coming to Africa Magic on October 20th.

    • Hijack ‘93 (October 25)
    Netflix Shares Images From Upcoming Film “Hijack ‘93,” Starring Nancy Isime and Efa Iwara

    Based on the actual event, “Hijack ‘93” will depict the story of a plane hijack carried out by four Nigerian men under the banner of “Movement for the Actualisation of Democracy” (MAD). These teenagers allegedly hijacked an airplane in transit to Abuja from Lagos. Directed by Robert O. Peters, “Hijack ‘93” is set to star Jemima Osunde, Nancy Isime, Efa Iwara, Sharon Ooja, Ego Nwosu, John Dumelo, Nnamdi Agbo, Allison Emmanuel, Yakubu Muhammed, and Sani Muazu. It will be coming to Netflix on October 25.

    • Soft Love (October 25)

    Directed by Holmes Awa, the rom-com movie will tell the story of different cultures merging together in a relationship of two wholesome lovers. It will feature Cindy Thando, Efa Iwara, Rosemary Zimu, Genoveva Umeh, Shola Fapson, Carol King, Sanda Shandu, Danny Ross, and Dalin Oliver. “Soft Love” will be released on Prime Video.

    • The Men’s Club: Next Gen (October 30)

    “The Men’s Club” is a Nigerian web series created and directed by Tola Odunsi. It follows the lives of four male friends – Aminu Garba, Louis Okafor, Tayo Oladapo, and Lanre Taiwo – as they navigate relationships, careers, and personal growth in Nigerian society. It stars Etim Effiong, Efa Iwara, Tope Olowoniyen, Pere Egbi, Baaj Adebule, Adebukola Oladipupo, Folu Storms, Chuks Joseph, Detola Jones, Sag Adeolu, Tracey George, Chiamaka Obi and more.

    • Smart Money Woman (October 31)

      The series returns for a second season as Zuri struggles to walk the path of a financially disciplined woman while Adesuwa fights to remain calm as she deals with divorce and co-parenting with her ex. Lara is saddled with the burden of maintaining her family and work while Tami tries to balance her love life with her career. The series initially premiered in 2021 and was directed by Bunmi Ajakaiye and Wande Thomas and co-produced by Kemi Lala Akindoju, Akintunde ‘MARINE’ Marinho, and Isoken Ogiemwonyi.
