Have the Northern elites succeeded in removing Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi?

by Adamu Aderinsola

About two weeks ago we got the most “Ludacris” report saying, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, disowned all of his social media accounts. It was disheartening, to say the least. In fact, it was not until we got asked: “is it your disowning?” that we finally let it go.

According to the Emir’s media aide who put out the statement, the Emir had apparently never opened any social media accounts nor did he authorise anyone to put out content on said accounts on his behalf.

Over the weekend, the rumour mills were spinning stories about 5 governors in the North were deliberating the public utterances of the Emir which many from the region consider to be controversial and against the conservative values that they hold dear.

Naturally, this piqued our interest and so we went to see what the Emir was saying in response to these rumours. Don’t ask why we thought that checking his Instagram account – which he already disowned – was a good idea. We did and see what we found:

That’s Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s old Instagram page. It has now been taken down.

[Don’t worry: here are ten of our favourite posts from his Instagram account]
