All the hard work athletes put into making their body ready for the biggest sporting event in the world, for the chance to win the coveted gold, silver or bronze disc that signals your are at the top of your game, can all be for naught if you are deemed too hot.
That is the lesson that Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice is learning. The three-time Olympic champion recently celebrated her birthday and received a two-piece bathing suit from designer as a gift. To show her appreciation, she tweeted a picture of herself in the suit and caused the Australian twitterverse to implode, as experts and pundits all made their voice heard on the outfit.
Some called the bikini too sexy, and a some have asked for her to be kicked off the Olympic team headed for the United Kingdom in July.
No one was up in arms however when male members of the Australian team posed in itty bitty swim trunks on the beach to promote Australian swimming.
