Snake massage

A zoo in the Philippines is offering visitors a curious massage treatment which involves being wrapped in 250kg of snake.

Those who are brave enough to try the massage will have 4 deadly Burmese pythons placed on top of them at the Cebu City Zoo.

There is no chance to escape the pythons once they are curled up and ready to go and they can only be taken off with the help of the handlers.

The snakes, named Michelle, Walter, EJ and Daniel, are fed with 10 chickens before hand so that they won’t get hungry and decided to devour the customer.

A volunteer, Ian Maclean from Hawaii, said:

‘I’ve been massaged twice and lived to tell the tale.’I had to lie on my back on a bamboo daybed in the open air. I was briefed on what to do and what not to do during the massage.

‘These instructions are crucial, as you can imagine. They tell you not to blow air on the snake, because this is like being pinched on the bum, apparently.

‘You can’t shout for help as the snake can feel your vibrations and thinks you’re prey or a predator, depending on the environment.’

Trapped: With a combined weight of 250kg, there is no escape from the snakes once the 'treatment' starts
Relaxing? The slithering motion is said to be therapeutic and calming; flicking tongues offer a tickling sensation
