I never did like the way
the freckles on my face would somehow align
Until the moment we laid down
together and you connected the dots.
Like the stars on a full moon, we shine bright
Together, we remember the moments we’d forget in time.
I never did like the way I looked in the morning
Until you woke me up to see you contently starring
Your eyes are so welcoming, I feel guilty
I can’t see the beauty that you see.
I never did like the way I couldn’t see the good.
Until you came and treated me every way I wish you would
I never did like the way I’d jump out of my sleep
Until you put your arms around me and made sure
I knew I was yours to keep.
I never did like my body
Until you kissed
Every curve
and every bone
and every line of my tan.
I never did like the lines on my hand
Until you put yours
Into mine
And it felt like a missing piece was found.
I never did like the way my voice would sound
Until the moment
you made me scream
your name
Whisper it,
moan it,
engraving it on my Wall of Fame.
I never did like me
Until you liked me.
