Sule Lamido’s son falls ill in court

The trial of the former Jigawa governor, Sule Lamido and his accomplices, who allegedly defrauded the state, resumed on Tuesday, April 12, before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Lamido is being prosecuted alongside his two sons: Aminu and Mustapha and two others on a 27-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering.

While counsel to the EFCC, Chile Okoroma was cross-examining Wetkas, Lamido’s counsel, O. E. Offiong, SAN, applied for a stand-down for an hour for the second defendant (Aminu Sule Lamido) to get medical attention after falling ill in court.

After sitting resumed, the second defendant was still not back, which forced the judge to temporarily stand-down on the case.

Subsequently, the judge adjourned the case till May 9, 10 and 11 2016.
