In the latest of catty remarks that have been exchanged between the two superstars over the years, Sir Elton John has branded Madonna a “fairground stripper”.
The British singer who has attacked Madonna for various reasons in the past (for which he generally ends up apologising) is apparently fed up with her being a bully.
“She’s been so horrible to Gaga,” John said in an interview in Australia, referring to the friction between Madonna and Lady Gaga (who is also the godmother of his child).
“She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over,” he said. “And she looks like a … fairground stripper.”
He also mentioned that her tour was a disaster, the irony of which lies in the fact the tour in question grossed $50 million from it’s frist 11 shows and has been predicted to be the highest grossing tour of all time.
“If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like ‘Ray of Light’ and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly,” he said.
Back in January, Elton John had said that “Madonna hasn’t got a f***ing chance” of winning the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, a category in which he had also been nominated.
Later on in the show a visibly furious John was shown in the audience watching as Madonna picked up the award in question. John’s partner, David Furnish criticized the Golden Globes for awarding Madonna a Best Original Song statue, saying it was proof that “these awards have nothing to do with merit”.
Madonna responded by saying that Elton is “known to get mad at me,” but “he’ll win another award. I don’t feel bad.”
