The Huff OWN? Oprah teams up with the Huffington Post

Talk show host/magazine editor/cable network owner (and several more slashes) Oprah Winfrey is set to team up with one of the most read websites on the planet, The Huffington Post, also known by its diminutive HuffPo.

Oprah is unarguably the most influential talk show host in the world. With a reach that covers hundreds of millions if not billions, the woman turned a local TV show to a worldwide behemoth that dominated the globe for decades.

She decided to start her own (no pun intended, but I’m sure she meant it) network, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), which has since struggled to find it’s feet with audiences. The flagging ratings and downward trend in advertising revenue has forced the media maven to seek new audiences for OWN, and this might just be the way to do it.

In this first ever deal for The Huffington Post, Oprah will get a section specifically for herself and will curate stories, video, and other content from Oprah’s already sprawling empire including OWN and Oprah.com.

Arianna Huffington, editor in chief of HuffPo said, “Oprah was about engagement and authenticity long before engagement and authenticity ruled the web. And since those qualities are deeply embedded in the DNA of both OWN and HuffPost, I’m delighted that we’ll be working together to enlarge the conversation on living our best lives.”

‘Living our best lives’ is also the motto for OWN.
