To get a chance to participtate, prospective VJs are expected to send a brief video clip explaining why they should be selected. The clip should be sent to MTV Base, or head down to the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search – Nigeria auditions at Fantasy Land, Lagos on December 1 for an opportunity to impress the judges.
The new VJ will become one of the key faces of the music network, hosting programmes on MTV Base and on the MTV Base block on STV.  The winner will also interview stars, emcee parties and concerts, walk the red carpet at entertainment events and travel all over the continent representing MTV Base.

“For me, winning the first Nigerian MTV Base VJ Search was the most awesome way of breaking into the TV and entertainment business,” comments Cynthia Okpala, “Five years ago, winning the search totally changed my life and it’s fantastic that MTV Base is now offering the same opportunity to new kids on the block who want to get their break into the entertainment business.”
“The most important quality required in an MTV Base VJ is that they should have the ability to communicate with and connect to our audience,” comments Alex Okosi, senior vice president and managing director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa. “We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes youth culture, with a bright and engaging personality and lots of energy and confidence.”
