In 1992, Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) directed an 11-year-old, Macaulay Culkin in a movie about a boy accidentally left behind at home while the rest of his family travel to Paris for the holidays. He soon has to contend with two nitwit adult burglars intending to rob his family house and manages to outwit them through a series of hilarious booby traps.
Home Alone has become a favourite holiday staple as many people have grown up rooting for the kid, Kevin McCallister (Culkin) as he takes on the evil adults.
