TICKER: #StupidStunts: Policeman suspended for dipping his head in a bucket of urine (WATCH)

An Ohio police officer said he got soaked after being suspended for dunking his head in a bucket of urine while off-duty.

Last month, Phil Croucher became an infamous YouTube sensation after a video showing him dunking his head in a bucket full of urine went viral. He reportedly did it on a dare and won $450 for his intestinal fortitude.

Initially, Croucher wasn’t identified, but his name quickly leaked out as did his job as a patrol officer for the Mentor, Ohio, police department.

Mentor Police Chief Daniel Llewellyn said Croucher, a 16-year member of the force, was placed on leave pending a medical evaluation back in October, and was later cleared and allowed to return to duty pending an investigation, WKYC-TV reported.

But now the urine dunking has left a stain on Croucher’s otherwise exemplary career. Llewellyn said Croucher is being suspended for two days, because he expected his officers to be on their best behavior at all times.

“You were identified as a Mentor Police Officer and that information was broadcast on many of the television, Internet and news print media casting a negative light on the professionalism of not only yourself as a M.P.D. officer, but the entire organization,” Llewellyn said in his official suspension notice, according to WTSP-TV.

Llewellyn also recommended that Croucher be ordered to attend an alcohol evaluation that would be arranged and paid for by the city, according to Mentor.patch.com. If Croucher complies, he could avoid one of those suspended days, provided he has no similar conduct for a year.

Croucher isn’t the only officer reprimanded for the incident. Nine other officers — including one lieutenant and two sergeants — also received written reprimands because they were there at the time of Croucher’s dare and contributed $50 to the pot, according to Patch.

But Croucher apparently thinks the suspension is all wet and is appealing the decision on grounds that it is without just cause, according to the Ohio News-Herald.
