TICKER: Will Smith’s Cain and Abel movie get’s green light, has vampire twist

Actor and rapper, Will Smith, may be making his debut as a director in a new movie that tells the biblical story of Cain and Abel. The film, “The Redemption of Cain,” has gotten the go ahead from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The film is reported to have a vampire spin on it.

There has been a lot of speculation, in recent years, that maybe Smith, who is typically seen in front of the cameras, would contribute to the biblical movie behind the cameras through his Entertainment company, Overbrook Entertainment.

The writer behind the script for “The Redemption of Cain” is actually Caleeb Pinkett, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s brother and the casting director is reportedly Francine Maisler.

There is a possibility that even though Smith will be in a director role, he may  also play the role of Cain. In Genesis, Cain is the son of Adam and Eve  who kills his brother, Abel.

With talks of vampires in the movie, the movie is drawing a lot of curiosity about how the story of Cain and Abel will be mixed with a vampire story.

The movie should be starting casting this month and is expected to start production in July 2013. Shooting has been scheduled in beautiful places like Jordan, Morocco and London.
