The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed fake, adulterated and banned products worth over ₦8 billion seized across North-Central Nigeria.
Speaking at the destruction exercise in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Thursday, Director-General Mojisola Adeyeye said officials recovered the items from factories, markets, shops, and motor parks across the region.
She explained that most were banned alcoholic drinks sold in sachets and containers smaller than 200ml. NAFDAC prohibited these products because their low prices and easy availability encourage abuse among young people and schoolchildren.
Oyo APC governorship candidate promises workers prompt salary payments

Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has promised workers regular payment of salaries, allowances, and other entitlements if elected in 2027.
His pledge comes amid ongoing strikes by medical and dental workers in the state and lecturers at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. The industrial actions have disrupted healthcare services and academic activities.
Alli criticised Governor Seyi Makinde for allegedly neglecting the workers’ demands while pursuing his presidential ambition. He also raised concerns about poor hospital facilities, inadequate medical staff, and the challenges facing students.
