Petrol prices rise to ₦1,450 in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan
Petrol prices have risen across Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan following fresh increases in supply costs linked to rising global crude prices and Middle East tensions.
Several Abuja filling stations now sell petrol for up to ₦1,450 per litre. In Lagos, prices rose to between ₦1,380 and ₦1,400, while an Ibadan outlet increased its price to ₦1,370.
The latest adjustments followed reports that marketers raised ex-depot prices, with Dangote Refinery increasing its gantry price from ₦1,265 to ₦1,350 per litre. Brent crude reportedly crossed $100 per barrel amid uncertainty over the conflict and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.
Poco Lee claims he knew he was innocent in UK ordeal
Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has spoken about his recent ordeal in the United Kingdom, saying he stayed confident because he knew he was innocent of the allegations.
During a video chat with VeryDarkMan, the entertainer said his main concern was how the situation affected his associates and business activities. He added that Burna Boy stood by him, alongside Rahman Jago and other friends.
VeryDarkMan also expressed support for Poco Lee and questioned reports surrounding the incident. He praised Burna Boy and Jago for supporting the dancer during the difficult period.
Atiku demands answers from FG as ASUU threatens strike
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the Federal Government over ASUU’s renewed strike threat, asking President Bola Tinubu to account for savings from fuel subsidy removal.
In a statement by his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the government had promised to invest subsidy savings in critical sectors such as education. He questioned where the funds had gone, given the hardship Nigerians face.
ASUU President Chris Piwuna announced the threat after an emergency meeting in Abuja on Friday. The union warned that lecturers could begin a nationwide strike soon unless the government addresses unpaid salaries, implementation of the agreement, and other welfare concerns.
Israeli minister threatens to revoke citizenship of Gaza documentary directors
Israel’s Culture Minister Miki Zohar has threatened to revoke the citizenship of Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor after their documentary NAZA won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
Zohar described the film as “vile” and accused the Israeli directors of betraying their country to gain international applause. His comments followed the documentary’s 25-minute standing ovation at its premiere.
NAZA alleges that Israeli forces accepted civilian deaths as collateral damage during attacks on suspected Hamas militants. The film features military personnel discussing how the number of permissible civilian casualties could reach hundreds in some operations.
Mo Abudu reveals her first film was made at 50
Mo Abudu has urged people to pursue their dreams regardless of age, saying it is never too late to begin something new. The media mogul shared the message while celebrating her 62nd birthday on Instagram.
Reflecting on her journey, Abudu revealed that she started Moments with Mo at 40, made her first film at 50, and launched EbonyLife Place in Lagos at 55.
Now taking the entertainment destination to London, she encouraged people to ignore age-based limitations and start pursuing their ambitions. “If there is something you want to do, go for it,” she said.
