Sanwo-Olu declares state of emergency on Lagos waste collection
Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared a state of emergency on waste collection, ordering urgent action to tackle growing sanitation problems across the state.
During an inspection of the Olusosun dumpsite in Ojota, Sanwo-Olu blamed recent collection delays partly on private operators failing to meet their responsibilities. He also said fires at dumpsites had disrupted operations.
The governor said ongoing compaction work at Olusosun and Solous 3 would improve waste disposal and collection. Once completed, each site is expected to handle about 450 trucks of municipal waste daily. He also urged residents to stop dumping rubbish in unauthorised areas across Lagos.
Jarvis reveals pregnancy made her honeymoon with Peller less eventful
Nigerian content creator Jarvis revealed that her honeymoon with her husband, Peller, was less exciting than she expected, blaming her pregnancy for her lack of energy.
Speaking during a livestream, she joked that the honeymoon “did not moon” as expected, saying they only “went to the sky and came down.” Jarvis explained that she expected the trip to have more romance and excitement between the newlyweds.
However, her pregnancy affected what they could do. She joked about their situation, saying, “How many things can we scatter?” Jarvis added that instead of creating memorable chaos, she and Peller spent most of their honeymoon sleeping and getting tired of sleeping.
FG releases eight months of CATA payments to tertiary institutions
The Federal Government has released the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for academic staff in federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, covering January to August 2026.
Education Minister Tunji Alausa announced the payment on Wednesday, saying it followed the 2025 agreement between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He said institutions had been notified to begin payments to eligible staff.
Alausa described CATA as support for teaching, research, and other academic activities. He added that funds for non-academic staff were expected to become available within the next few weeks, as the government continues efforts to improve staff welfare.
WhiteMoney threatens legal action against Uche Maduagwu over defamation
BBNaija season six winner WhiteMoney has threatened legal action against actor Uche Maduagwu over alleged defamatory remarks made about him on social media.
Maduagwu called WhiteMoney an “outcast” and alleged that the reality star paid producers to include his life story in a recent film. He also questioned White Money’s relationship with his Igbo identity.
Responding in an Instagram video, WhiteMoney dismissed Maduagwu as a “nonentity” and accused him of seeking attention by attacking him. The reality star warned that his lawyers would take action over the comments, saying Maduagwu would hear from them for allegedly defaming him online.
Noel Clarke charged with six sexual offences after police probe
British actor Noel Clarke has been charged with six sexual offences following a Metropolitan Police investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges after detectives submitted evidence.
The 50-year-old faces two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure. The alleged offences reportedly occurred between 2007 and 2016 and involve five women.
Clarke was arrested in September 2025 and later released under investigation. He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 21. Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney said the women are receiving specialist support and urged anyone with relevant information to contact police.
